Everyone trains—all the amateurs of this sport—for a hypothetical match, for a scenario that everyone who trains imagines. We recorded the gym—the training ground—for these amateurs who will never compete.

The idea of recording sports-themed sounds dates back to when I was thinking about the sports-themed anthology „Generația de aur” (the Golden Generation). The recordings are from three different locations, all of which had a specific starting point: the amateur training hall—one private and one “at the gym”—and a training hall for junior professionals, the state-run boxing hall Olimpia.

Poet and obscure researcher of the vanished territories of the present geography, V. Leac has published several volumes of poems, co-founded contemporary art collectives, coordinated and edited poetry anthologies for Romanian publishers, and more recently he founded the publishing house Fantomas.
For SEMI SILENT, V. Leac curated the poetry selection of the project POLYPHONIC ECHOES and co-authored a radio art piece together with Cristian Fierbințeanu, and with Anamaria Pravicencu, he co-authored a radio art piece and a concert-performance.
