Outtakes of the project Syntopia:Bega (by Andreea Săsăran & Abby Lee Tee), recorded in July 2021 while collecting material for an audiovisual essay about the widely ramified river and canal system Bega in Timișoara, coming across numerous hidden places where frogs and their vocal expressions were dominating the soundscape – above and below the surface of the water.

Syntopia:Bega is a research art project in public space, finding a part of the city’s sonic identity and it’s residents’ relationship with nature and sound, and vice versa – the role nature (and in particular the city-crossing canal system Bega) plays in site-specific culture and art scenes, resulting in an audiovisual work between sound artist Abby Lee Tee (Linz, AT) and videographer Andreea Săsăran (Timișoara, RO). https://www.newtogether.at/portfolio-item/syntopia-bega

Abby Lee Tee is an Austrian sound artist / musician releasing a steady stream of constantly evolving solo material since 2009, nurturing a passion for field recordings and unusual instruments. Andreea Săsăran works at the intersection between creation and cultural organization. As a visual artist, she works with photography and video. As a freelancer, she contributes to visual arts, performative arts, art in public spaces and eco-art projects. Alongside different beautiful collaborations, the “ecoSFera series” archive gathers a significant photo-video documentation of the artist’s enthusiasm for the natural landscape.
